1964 Gibson Firebird III Electric Solidbody Guitar.
Overall Condition Is Excellent / Near Mint.
Original Finish Is Near Mint With No Overspray Or Refinish And Just A Few Very Small Marks (See All Photos).
This Guitar Has Come To Us From The Family Of The Original Owner. It Is A One-Owner Guitar That Was Stored By The Family For Years And Is Just Now Offered For Sale For The First Time Since It Was New. This Super-Clean Firebird Also Has All The Original Receipts, Documentation, And Details Of The Original Sale That Tell The History And Provenance Of This Wonderful Guitar (See Photos).
All Parts Are Original And The Guitar Is Completely Original Save For A Few Minor Modifications: The Original Tuners Were Removed At Some Point, But Have Been Reinstalled On The Guitar. There Are No Extra Screw Holes, But The Holes For The Tuner Shafts Were Widened A Bit. In Addition, When The Guitar Was Delivered To Us The Bridge Pickup Was DOA (Perhaps From Sitting For Decades) And It Was Sent To Kuwabara Pickups For A Perfect Rewind. The Neck Pickup Remains Original And Works As It Should With Strong Output And Both Pickups Are Balanced Perfectly.
Frets Are Original And In Excellent Condition With Minimal Signs Of Use, No Pitting, Issues, Or Buzzing (See Photos).
The Neck Has A Beautiful Contour That Feels Like A ‘63 Gibson Neck As It Gets More ”C” Shaped And Full Past The Third Fret. It Is Very Comfortable And Is By No Means The Early 60’s Thin Gibson “Blade” Neck.
It Has The Full 1 & 11/16” Nut Width. A Replacement Nut Is Currently On The Guitar And The Original Nut Is Included In Case Pocket. We Did Not Opt To Reinstall It As The Guitar Plays Perfectly As It Is- The Buyer Can Choose To Do That If They Like.
The Neck Is Perfectly Straight And The Truss Rod Functions As It Should. It Is Currently Set Up With .10’s And The Action Is Set Low, Measuring 3mm On The Bass Side And 2.5mm On The Treble Side. There Is Plenty Of Room To Adjust It Up Or Down At The Bridge.
Weighs A Reasonable 8.8 lbs.
The Original Case Is Included. All Latches And Hinges Intact And Working As They Should And There’s Just A Few Of The Typical Spots Of Discoloration These Get In The Interior.
All In All This Is As Nice A Gibson Reverse Firebird III As We Have Ever Seen.
